How do I become a Nathans Famous franchise owner?

You can start the process by completing your Nathan’s Famous “expression of interest”. Upon receiving a completed submission, we will review it and respond to you accordingly. The franchise approval process is designed so that both parties can gain a better understanding of each other and determine whether a mutual vision exists.


What minimum requirements must be met to become a Nathan’s Famous franchise owner?

Franchise opportunities are available to the following who:

    • Cultural fit with Nathan’s Famous brand.
    • Have equity in the business and will commit to the business full time.
    • Ready to commence the training program.
    • Live within close proximity of the location or territory.
    • Demonstrate the ability to build, hire and train a professional team.
    • Understand the local market and customer needs.
    • Ability to follow proven systems and procedures.

What do I get when I purchase a Nathan’s Famous franchise?

  • All of the equipment, fixtures, fittings and signage, which are required to operate a full menu restaurant, kiosk or trailer.
  • A 2-week training program during which you are taught all facets of the operation of your franchise. This training takes place in a nominated training store and your own store or trailer.
  • The assistance of our Operations team with the opening of your store. The Operations team member remain with you for up to a week following the commencement of trade to help you hire and train staff, clean and prepare the store/trailer for opening and provide general assistance and guidance to you in the running of your franchise.
  • The use of confidential Operation Manuals which contain recipes, formulas, operating procedures, equipment maintenance guidelines, record keeping systems and general reference materials for guidance in the proper manner of operating a franchise.
  • A support team of personnel, experienced in all facets of our system, who are available on an ongoing basis for operational support and guidance.
  • A right to intellectual property and trademarks, which are applicable to the operation of your store for the term of the franchise agreement.

What is the initial investment required for the Franchise?

  • Design, construction, equipment and initial franchise fee
    • From $250,000 plus GST for a full menu restaurant
    • From $155,000 plus GST for a kiosk
    • From $90,000 plus GST for a trailer/cart

What are the ongoing payments to the Franchisor?

  • A monthly Royalty of 6% of gross sales plus GST from the franchise
  • A monthly Marketing fee of 3% of gross sales plus GST from the franchise

Will there be ongoing support for new franchise owners?

Yes, our team of skilled and dedicated professionals provides our franchise owners with support in operations, including training, information technology and marketing.

An Operations Manager is assigned to each franchise owner to answer questions and provide feedback and guidance during on-site visits and through phone and email correspondence. This support ensures that our high standards of product quality, value, cleanliness and customer services are consistently met.
